A week ago, I was watching a television show called “The Chew” and I saw this amazing segment about a man with a HUGE Heart! Chef Chad Houser offered 3 young men a job… these children were incarcerated before the age of 18 for non-violent crimes. These boys have been labeled by the juvenile justice system as “throwaways”- children who were discarded by society. Therefore, Cafe Momentum was born. For more than three years, Houser had 41 pop-up dinners around the city, (Dallas, TX) working with 172 kids. Once the concept grew Houser decided to open a permanent location… The resturant is open Thursdays- Saturdays. On those days, the teenagers bus and wait on tables. They cook food made from scratch and they wash dishes. The rest of the week, they cater events outside the resturant. The kids are paid. This nonprofit organization is brilliant in my mind. These children learn life lessons while doing good in the community. Costumers give them pats on the back for a job well done and the kids just love the atmosphere in the restaurant and can’t wait to get back to work. Thank you Chad Houser for making a difference! Next time I’m in Dallas, TX. I’m stopping in for dinner. Hope you have a wonderfully relaxing weekend! Thanks for reading-
